Thanks to all who helped make the Get2Gether a Great Success!

We were thrilled to welcome over 160 people through the doors at the second Great Dronfield Get2gether.

The event was organised by Shelley Hinson, with the help of Derbyshire County Council, North East Derbyshire District Council, Rykneld Homes, Derbyshire Voluntary Action and a team of fabulous volunteers from a host of local community groups and businesses, including Churches Together, Tesco and Dronfield and Drone Roses WI groups.

Visitors, including Dronfield Mayor Cllr Philip Wright, chatted with staff and volunteers from over 30 different organisations and services and found out how to get help on a diverse range of topics, such as telephone scams, chairbased exercise classes, befriending, self care, community transport, affordable warmth, mobilitu and hearing equipment – the list goes on and on!

Janet Millington, Elderfriends Project Coordinator at The Volunteer Centre, Chesterfield & NE Derbyshire was a stallholder. She said “It was a very positive event and we recruited volunteers for our projects in addition to signposting potential service users to our friendships clubs and complimentary coffee mornings.”

One visitor commented “I’m astounded at the number of things that are out there for people in Dronfield – there’s so much help available that I knew nothing about before coming here today. I should have gone home two hours ago but I’ve stayed on and had a good chat. It’s been brilliant!”
